Life is all about acknowledgement !
Dear Friends ,
I want to share a very memorable experience of mine . The story is very simple but you'll be able to connect very easily as these are real life ordinary situations we all come across in life . But honestly sometimes , these ordinary situations could become extraordinary too . Read it for yourself and let me know ...
I had checked in into a City Hotel at night 10.30 p.m. The restaurant was just getting closed and there was just one middle aged woman called Rakhi Das , wrapping up things for the long day .
I was very hungry and asked if I could get some food ? Rakhi without any concern for the late hour request asked me what I would like to eat . Her smile and energy level at night 10.30 pm was amazing ! I asked her how would she organize things for me when the restaurant is almost shut and moreover this would also mean delaying her stay due to me . She asked me not to worry about anything of this sort , but to just order what I wanted ! I ordered just curd and some rice with pickles knowing the fact that it is not fair on my part to order things which would delay stay for Rakhi in the restaurant.
Rakhi brought the items in 5 minutes and stood besides me with her calm and charming face just like a family member . I entered into a conversation with her to know about her family . I thanked her profusely after my dinner and went to my room .
Next day , when I went for Lunch to the restaurant, Rakhi was there again ! She welcomed me with her beautiful smile and amazing courtesy and showed me to sit on a corner most table . I asked her if there is anyway I could get South Indian food as I was tired of eating North Indian food . She asked me to relax on my seat and volunteered to get me everything I needed ,though I asked her to just show me where those items were in the large Buffet spread . I went to the seat and in no time Rakhi again got me whatever I needed and kept coming to me to check if I needed anything else . I saw that this is the way she was with every customer who was having Lunch . Her energy level , positive attitude , smile on her face , everything was so great ! I knew she was working for 12-13 hours a day but still her energy level and commitment and service to customers was awesome .
At the time of check out , I met the General Manager of the Property who happens to be my friend too . I asked him to get me a pen and paper . He panicked and asked what is the issue that I wanted to escalate . I said , there is no issue but I just need the pen and paper .
With one bag on my shoulder and having made the payment for check out already , I wrote an appreciation note for Rakhi as I was so impressed with the way she was treating all customers . I told the Management that it is very difficult to get people like Rakhi with so much of energy , positive attitude and that she is a real Rockstar of the Hotel and so they need to really take care of her . As you know , voice of Customer is very important especially in hospitality sector , I know this letter would be very helpful for Rakhi's career .
I then requested General Manager to call Rakhi. Rakhi came and I read the appreciation cum recommendation letter before her Boss . She immediately became emotional and said this was one of the rarest moment of her career . Her eyes became wet . The General Manager was shocked and said that no customer has ever done this kind of gesture as no one really has time for acknowledging these things . I decided to leave the place giving my best wishes to Rakhi .
Rakhi will always remember that day , that experience and so will I . I felt so happy that I made some difference to someone's life that day .
Life is all about acknowledgement of positive things surrounding us . Let's make it a practice of acknowledging good and positive things we come across , be it from children , colleagues , relatives or friends .
If you follow the above , I guarantee you will have memorable experiences . Please try and let me know .
Best ,

ReplyDelete[23:43, 17/10/2019] Swarup Roy: What Rakhi displayed thru excellent customer service is rare in India and the minimum standard of service in Thailand- down to the street vendor. So u tell me about Thailand's education?
