KALAIMAGAL SCHOOL ANNUAL DAY FUNCTION – TRULY UNFORGETTABLE

I was invited as a Chief Guest for the Annual Day Function of Kalaimagal school, Pernambut near Vellore on 31st March 2018. The school was started by Shri B.A. Balsubramaniam ,91 years old, (Chief Founder) in the year 1983 in his home town Pernambut. The school is one of its kind which offers free education to 800 students from Standard I to Standard VIII. The school is currently managed by the Founder’s family.

The program scheduled to start at 4.30 pm got disrupted due to sudden rains. There was a disappointment in the faces of young kids who were looking for this very day meant for them. God was kind , rains halted and there was happiness and joy in the environment .

On reaching the venue , I was fascinated by the high voltage energy level of tiny toddlers with smiling faces and greeting me “ Good evening Sir“ from their heart. These children belong to people below the poverty line living in the small town . For them getting food and shelter is primary for survival. I decided to be part of the Kalaimagal family school instantly on seeing the vibrant and simple people all around and not act as a formal Chief Guest.

The children performed every activity with zeal , happiness and dedication. The Yoga performance was outstanding ! Ramp walk with children wearing plain and simple clothes made me run to the stage and walk along with these rockstars. I also danced with the children on stage for Jhimki Kamal song just to chill out the children and make them feel happy. It was amazing to watch Mrs. Deepa, w/of Mr. Suresh also dancing on the stage with the young ones .

At the end, Mr Suresh did the felicitation for me and he felt quite pleased that I came with my family for this event and was engrossed all through the event.

I gave my first Tamil speech for which I was bit skeptical about my ability. I narrated a real anecdote of my life of how I was being ridiculed for my poor English speaking skills by my classmates of class 9, which made me master the craft of English language . Today I have come to a stage where I breath English. Thanks to those classmates and that instance which made me take up the first challenge of my Life and after that taking up challenging tasks have become a way of life because of which I have reached the Leadership position . The goal of my speech was to inspire students to feel that there is nothing IMPOSSIBLE in this world as long we have the strong determination .

Life is an exam by itself , sometimes we pass and sometime we fail . During failure , how we bounce back is what is more important ! Made the children realize that every activity big or small should be done with commitment and happiness and mind should be fearless from marks, results etc. while studying for exams.

I thanked Mr. Suresh , Mr Satish and their entire family for carrying out the legacy of the great Founder. I also thanked the Head Master Mr Mathi Kumar without whom this event would not have been made possible. Mr Mathi is a highly devoted individual and a trusted Lieutenant of the organization.  All the teachers are so committed to their profession and are pillars for this organization .

One of the parent walked up to the stage and showed how grateful she is to the school in shaping their children and wished that the school had classes beyond Std VIII so that her children could have continued their education in this great school.

The show ended with the inspirational speech by the respected strong Founder Shri B.A. Balsubramaniam . He spoke how he decided to build this school for the society and reinforced the Life Mantra for everyone that success comes with strong determination ,will power and commitment .

Finally we took a group photo of the entire Kalaimagal family as a token of remembrance.

One more day in my life which is going into my diary of memorable events for me to cherish for ever ..
